COACHES
Our
coaches for the TRIVIGOR Women’s Triathlon Training
Camp consist of a diverse and accomplished team of women.
Like many of us, they have demanding lives and play many roles
throughout the day. Not only can they claim the title of highly
qualified triathlete, but also of mother, wife, sister, entrepreneur
and corporate employee, if we had to mention a few names on
the short list. Each coach is USA Triathlon (USAT) certified,
with extensive experience in triathlon racing, training and
technique, from sprint to Olympic to Ironman distances. Here’s
a peak at some of the coaches on our team…
Dorothy
Hamburg
Dorothy
Hamburg is USA Triathlon Level II Expert Coach and has
presented at the USA Triathlon coaches' clinic. She is nationally
certified as a Clinical Exercise Specialist and Health Fitness
Instructor by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM),
as well as Personal Strength Trainer by the American Council
of Exercise. Dorothy obtained her Master's Degree in Exercise
Physiology from the University of Oregon.
Dorothy has over 18 years of experience teaching weight training
and strength conditioning. She specializes in women specific
coaching/training and triathletes of all abilities from beginner
to intermediate to elite levels. Dorothy is a self-proclaimed
“late starter” in the world of triathlons. As
she puts it, “Little did she know that triathlons would
ever become a passion.” Yet, fast forward to present
day and Dorothy’s accomplishments are nothing short
of noteworthy. She has competed nationally in short-course
and long-course triathlons, ultra-marathons and mountain bike
racing. Dorothy is also a 2-time IronMan finisher (Florida
and Lake Placid) and has successfully competed in and placed
in races such as the SOS (Survival of the Shawangunks), the
Downeville Classic Mountain Bike Race, the Vermont 50 Mountain
Bike Race and the Jay Peak Challenge. Absolutely no slouch
off the bike or away from the pool, she is also an avid rock
climber and altitude mountaineer having climbed Denali in
Alaska, Huana Potosi in Bolivia, Mount Rainier in Washington
and numerous other peaks in the Cascades and South America.
Tracey
Swenson
Tracey
Swenson is a USA Triathlon Level I Coach and a Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She is also USA Cycling
Level II Coach, and holds coaching certifications from USA
Track & Field and USA Weightlifting. Tracey has a Bachelor
of Arts in Business and Physical Education from Western Maryland
College.
Tracey’s love of multi sports began when she was in
high school and continued through college where she was member
of the tennis, basketball and swimming teams. Upon graduation,
she realized there were not many opportunities to simultaneously
participate in three sports, with the exception of the triathlon.
Yet, to state that she began to “participate” is
an understatement to say the least. For the past 20 years, Tracey has
competed in triathlons from sprint to Olympic to Ironman (Lake
Placid) distances on local to international levels. Throughout
the 1990’s, she was ranked as an Honorable Mention and
All-American in the triathlon and duathlon. Tracey raced as
a Pro Triathlete/Duathlete from 2000-2004, as well as an
Elite Pro Adventure Racer during the same time period. For
every year since 1995, Tracey has also qualified and competed
in the World Championships for both the duathlon and triathlon.
In addition, Tracey has coached triathletes from beginner
to intermediate to elite levels, and has been a triathlon
coach for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in
Training (TNT) for the past 8 years.
